Bud Hardwick

Bud lives on
a small farm near Bellingham with his daughter
Amanda and three saddle goats named Salty, Dandy,
and Woody. While raising Amanda, he was also busy
building a small family farm and occasionally
taking a sailing trip into the San Juan Islands.
Now with Amanda in school, the trees pruned and
the garden prepared, he likes to wander the wild
areas of the Pacific Northwest. This broad
approach to nature is a reflection of his past
career in environmental management and his current
activities in conservation. His passion is
introducing people to the beauty of nature with an
emphasis on personal safety. As a writer,
instructor and mountain guide, he teaches courses
in wilderness travel including: ski touring,
avalanche avoidance, glacier travel, rock & snow
climbing, and kayaking.
Bud has been a member of the Mount Baker Club
since the 1980's. He has led trips, served on the
board as Conservation Chair, and represented the
club in the Ski-to-Sea competitions (XC Skiing,
Road Bike, Mountain Bike, and Kayak). He hopes to
complete each leg of the race once before retiring
from competition and joining the club's race day
support crew.
