Camp-Out &
Hike-Out 2005 |
August 5-7, 2005
Where: Silver Fir Campground
(Map of campground)
When: August 5-7
UPDATE: All
campsites at Silver Fir are booked for the
upcoming campout but check with friends to see
if they may have room in their camp. There are
some first come first sites that are non
reservable so you can take your chances
that way. There is no extra parking available
and most sites allow 2 cars but at a small cost.
From experience I can tell you there is not a
lot
of room at some of the sites for extras. Almost
all sites can hold from 5-8 people.
Please call me at 360-380-1726 or 201-4225 for
more info. I will be at Site # 17 on
Friday but will be heading out for a short hike
in the afternoon. Lets all check in when we can
to meet and have introductions.
See you there!

On August 5th Christine Woodward is hoping for
some great summer weather and other Mt Baker
hiking club pals to join her at the Silver Fir
campground area for a camping and hiking weekend
getaway. There are many local hikes that can be
planned and, if the weather holds, maybe a trip
into Lake Ann depending on snow levels. I have
local hiking maps and a great book on the area.
There is a potluck and campfire planned for
Saturday night. Please bring your own firewood
as the camp hosts is expensive and wet! Lets
hope the weather allows for some good fire
talks.
As this area is close to Bellingham and fill sup
fast, it is highly recommended to make your
reservations ASAP. I have booked campsite #17
but as you can see by the map, there are plenty.
There are places for trailers and for tenters
but no good place to canoe unless you like to
white water kayak.

Please go to the website
www.reserveusa.com reserve to find Silver
Fir Campground. You will need to get a username
and password in order to book unless you have an
easier way to do it. It is at the base of the
big switchback up to Baker and about 54 miles
from town. Be prepared for the elements as we
have had high rainfall and sunny with hot
before.

Any questions please call Christine at
360-380-1726. See you on the mountain!
